So, fellow biblioblogger Christian Salafia and friend/all things Tyndale guy Adam Sabados are combining our powers to do posts on Fantasy football on Fridays, as consistent as possible. Why? Because we felt like it, and it’s fun!
Yes, we would be open to anyone else, female or male, joining us in this endeavor, just leave a comment or a tweet response. We are sure to get back to you, we are pretty good about those things. Except if you make fun of Ohio with Adam.
Here are Christian’s first 2 posts:

Fantasy Football Fridays: Obsessed with Tight Ends
Anyhow, I would like to be Captain Hindsight (South Park reference) for this week, and next week, start making predictions or possible moves with my FIVE, COUNT THEM FIVE FFL teams. This week, clearly, the gods were on my side, and smiling upon me, as I went 5 and 0, scoring over 100 points in 4 of the 5 leagues. (usually when I have a bad week, I ask, why lords, why?– that’s my theodicy for FFL).
From ESPN.COM-
YOUR MOM IS A CYLON 131, my opponent, 108. This games was literally down to the wire on Sunday night. He had Julio Jones of the Falcons at WR left, I had Jeremy MacLin of the Eagles. Thus, I went from 7 points down to a 23 point victory. (1-1 record)
JOAN HARRIS 96, my opponent 89. Again, this game went down to the wire on Sunday Night Football, Again the Falcons/Eagles game would determine my fate. My opponent had the Falcons defense. I believed this game would be a shootout, and my gamble paid off. Falcons forced 3 turnovers, but there were several times they had a chance for return TDS. Tremendous fail. But giving up 31 pts lost the game for the opposition. Meanwhile, I won with only the Lions’ Defense/Special Teams showing up. My qb Flacco of the Ravens broke my heart. (1-1 record)
From Yahoo.com-
The SyFy Empire 210, the opposition, 84.50. Let’s just say this one was a laugher. I had Maclin at night, but I was already up by 70 points. Adrian Peterson (RB), Mike Wallace(WR), Larry Fitzgerald (WR), and LeGarret Blunt(RB) had already helped me pull way ahead. But Dustin Keller and the New York Giants defense were my money picks/changes to the team that were the real difference makers. My only mistake was choosing Kyle Orton (QB) versus the Bengals over Matty (Ice) Ryan at home versus the Eagles. But even that was an 8 point difference. Hey, who knows, if i contend for the playoffs, each point counts seed-wise. (1-0 record)
Whedony Warriors 130, the other team 121. This game turned out to be a barn burner to the bitter end. It’s always fun to play against your siblings. Mike Vick’s injury probably cost my opponent the game, but he also picked Atlanta’s defense (a measly 1 point). Why would he do this? Conflict of interest, right? No idea. All I needed was Drew Brees, Kenny Britt, and the Detroit Lions’ defense. Justin Tuck (DE) for the Giants gave me the separation I needed to clinch the game Monday Night.
Lastly,
My Team , 141, the opposition, 54. I had Brady, Britt, and Mike Wallace, along with Fred Jackson (RB) and the Steelers’ defense. The opposition jumped on 1 too many bandwagons from week 1, Randall Cobb of the GB Packers (who had 2 TDs vs the Saints), Rex Grossman, the Chicago defense, and Wes Welker– all of which had great 1st weeks. Welker I say would be a mainstay, all the rest? Flashes in the pan.
My approach to FFL has changed: I now value WRs a lot more than I used to, and I draft for them differently now. I still value defense, from team defenses all the way down to individual defensive players (every point counts)– but not as much as I used to, like one year when I drafted the Ravens Defense 3, and like Ray Lewis in the 5th or 6th round. That’s because the year before, I had scored so many pts with the Ravens’ D, I thought I’d get the same results. Ummmmm no, they had a down year, and I put BAL out there each week to get pummeled. Also, I have made it a personal rule: Don’t be a HOMER– choose no players or the minimum amount of great players on your favorite team and you will be happier. It has worked so far.

Thanks Tusk.
Actually, your post is relevant, because I have been planning on posting about John Piper’s problematic views of race.
