And For a Football Playoff System
I’m a pacifist, and I don’t believe in the death penalty. When it comes to college sports however, I believe that Miami University deserves the DP for the violations its men’s basketball and football teams committed. However, with such a bad economic climate, I doubt it happens.
However, this and the Terrelle Pryor situation, where he and several teammates took money in exchange for jerseys signed by them and in which they were NOT suspended for their BCS bowl game, has convinced me it is time to start paying college athletes as if they were like staff persons. They do represent the universities, and the compensation should be limited to the cost of attendance per school.
In addition, the NCAA could afford this if they changed from the stupid (no offense to stupid people) Bowl Championship Series in favor of a 12-16 team playoff system, with bowl games playing as well.
“Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one destined for destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God.” 2nd Thessalonians 2:3-4
“Do not despise the words of prophets” 1st Thessalonians 5:20
Really, the Tea Party’s spokespersons, while claiming to want to build a Christian nation in the name of Judeo-Christian values, far from it for they exclude that little Judeo* part, with all of the prophets; may I present you Glenn Beck who condemned words from the Old Testament as communist?
Thanks to Truth Out, it’s been uncovered that California Congressman Darrell Issa, this year’s chairman of the Oversight Committee, has hired a former Goldman Sachs employee who changed his name in order to fly under the radar to get the position. Issa sent a letter to regulators questioning their new powers to regulate financial firms. Um, can anyone say “major conflict of interest?” Corporations have set themselves up as the country’s overlords and this example is just beyond ridiculous, but shouldn’t surprise Bible believing Christians (who actually read the Old Testament).
Truth Out: Goldman Sachs Vice President Changed his name; Now lobbying interest’s top staffer for Darrell Issa.
As Joel and I were talking about my idea for video debates between bibliobloggers, Joel proposed this idea:
From Joel’s post on The first Monthly Biblioblogger Video Blog Carnival-October 2011 on Mythicism.
“During the first week of October, I would like to host a carnival or sorts on mythicism. I would like two ten-minute presentations, pro and con. They must be a video of some sort. No, you don’t have to be on the camera, and yes, you can just make an audio recording and turn it into a video of a powerpoint for all I care. These videos will be uploaded to a youtube account and remain private until they are released to the public.”
Check it out!
I would argue that with the final episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the t.v. series of Star Trek ended.
No more spin-offs or series happened. You tell me anything different, you are a heretic.
Anyways, Joel has posted on Captain Janeway from some show called Voyager:
“So, could it be that Janeway, the leader, the strong female captain charged with leading a crew home, is actually being portrayed as the anti-feminist, in that she needs to escape”
