How do you organize your research?

Although I am currently on temporary hiatus from the academy, I still find myself doing my own research. Lately, I have re-organized (well, kinda).

I know that most people take notes of lectures and books on their laptops/desktops and keep them on there. For me, I work best by first writing out my reading/lecture notes on notebook paper and then putting them in a binder. Right now, I have it down to 5 binders, labelled:

1. Theology and Critical Race Theory (new)

2. Theology and Economic Theory (new)

3. Independent Studies (old)

4. Black Church Studies (old)

5. Critical Pedagogy (fairly new)

I think it’s important in case I need to go back to reference thoughts and arguments I want to make in future papers and articles.

    1. The pile on my desk.

    2. The pile next to my desk

    3. The pile on the closest bookshelf shelf.

    4. The pile on the floor next to my bookshelf.
