Tonight, at the Father, the LORD, and You time (FLY time), my disciples (the kids at CUMC Fort Worth) learned how to pray to God for God’s greatness and excellence like the Psalmist does in Psalm 8.
Now, I offer a prayer for the Haitian people, who suffered a great loss of life today:
God of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Leah, Rachel, Jacob, Moses, and Zipporah,
The One true God of the all nations of the world,
What is humanity, that you care for us and make us the stewards of your creation?
When I look at the stars, and consider the heavens and the hosts,
the wind and the weather, I know that you are in control of all.
How majestic is your name throughout the world, Christ Jesus?
You, God’s perfect Word, who came into the world and died for our sins and rose again.
We know, that you, Oh LORD, Master and Creator of the Universe, are suffering with the Haitians,
And that You love them because only the Triune God is Good, Father, Spirit, and Son.
It is because of your great love that the battle against the enemy is already won.
We pray that you will continue to show mercy and love through your Church,
By the power of the Holy Spirit, in unity with the Father Almighty and his only begotten Son, Christ Jesus.
Amen.
