Ever since 2005, New Testament PhD student Wade Berry and I have had drawn out conversations over Stanley Grenz, Baptist life, and adventures in ministry. I am now proud to announce that Wade has a new biblioblog entitled The Strange and Scary World of Human Existence.
He says about this blog
Well, here goes nothing! Wade’s blog 2.0!
I have actually blogged before; you can find my previous blogs on my MySpace page. But, once I came to Facebook, I realized that there really is nobody on MySpace anymore, so it seemed pointless to continue blogging there. Now I’m back in the saddle, and, between working on a dissertation and living life, we’ll just have to see how much blogging I actually do.
A note about the title I used for my blog. I really struggled to figure out exactly what I wanted to call this thing. If everything goes according to plan, I will be discussing a wide variety of topics, from contemporary Baptist politics to ancient philosophy, from pop culture to serious academic issues. I didn’t want to blog title to be too “high-fulutin’”, but I wanted to express the mysterious and all-encompassing nature of this endeavor. I know some of you are probably reading the phrase “Human Experience” and thinking “What is he talking about?” I thought about using pharases like “the Human Mind” or “Human Intereaction,” but they were too limiting. They either implied an exclusively psychological view or an exclusively sociological view (respectively) of human living. They either focused too much on the inner-workings of the human mind or on the interchanges the occur between people. So, “Huma Experience” it is — despet its existentialist overtones.
Don’t expect this blog to be brainless. I’m ot into mindless chatter. Don’t expect it to be perfect, either. Anyone who knows me knows that I am prone to typos, and I don’t always catch them. And that is besides all the lapses in judgment, logical fallacies, and other imperfections that afflict anyone who tries to express their thoughts. Finally, do not expect this blog to be religiously neutral. I am a Christian, and one of the things I am really trying to work on is being less sensitive to social pressure concerning my faith.
So, off we go “into the wild, blue yonder.” Let’s see where this crazy ride takes us!
Go ahead and follow Wade’s blog or add him to your RSS feeds!

Rod
